Frequently Asked Questions – Physio Oakleigh

How much does physiotherapy cost in Oakleigh?

Initial consultations (45 mins) and follow-up sessions (30 mins) are competitively priced. We accept all private health funds with HICAPS on-site claiming for instant rebates. Medicare rebates available with a GP referral under a Chronic Disease Management plan (up to 5 sessions per year). WorkCover and TAC claims accepted. Contact us at (03) 9853 7836 for specific pricing or view our payment plans.

Do I need a referral to see a physio in Oakleigh?

No referral needed – physiotherapists are primary healthcare practitioners. However, bring any existing referrals, scans or X-rays if you have them. You’ll need a GP referral for Medicare rebates (CDM plan) or approved claims for WorkCover/TAC.

What’s the difference between physio and chiro?

Physiotherapists focus on exercise-based rehabilitation, movement restoration and use techniques like manual therapy and dry needling. Chiropractors primarily use spinal adjustments. Our Oakleigh physios combine hands-on treatment with tailored exercise programs for lasting results.

How many sessions will I need?

Most patients see significant improvement within 4-6 sessions. Acute injuries typically need 4-6 visits over 2-4 weeks, while chronic conditions may require 6-10 sessions. We’ll provide a clear treatment plan with expected timeframes at your initial consultation.

Your 45-minute initial consultation includes:

  • Comprehensive assessment of your condition and medical history
  • Physical examination to identify the root cause
  • Clear diagnosis and explanation of your treatment options

Can physio help with sports injuries?

Absolutely! We specialise in treating sports injuries including ACL rehab, ankle sprains, runner’s knee, and muscle strains. Our physio Hayden Wishart has extensive experience with return-to-sport programs and works with local sporting clubs.

What should I wear to physio?

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy movement. Bring shorts for lower body treatment, or a singlet/sports bra for upper body issues. If we’re assessing your walking or running, bring your regular exercise shoes.

Do you treat WorkCover and TAC patients?

Yes, we’re approved providers for WorkCover, TAC, DVA and NDIS (where physiotherapy is in your plan). We handle the paperwork and direct billing where possible.
