Meet Our Physiotherapists in Redfern

Two physiotherapists work at our Redfern clinic. You see the same person through your recovery, so nobody has to re-explain their history at every visit.

Victor Luong, Physiotherapist. Victor came to physiotherapy through strength training, with years as both a lifter and a coach, so his clinical work is shaped by time under the bar as well as by his degree. He works on the gap between rehabilitation and strength development, helping people restore capacity, build resilience and keep progressing for decades rather than seasons.

Sean Machoro, Physiotherapist. Sean played competitive soccer from the age of six in Perth and Sydney, and has a strong background in long-distance running, which is where his interest in endurance training, load management and injury prevention comes from. He also brings experience from tennis, beach volleyball, bouldering and climbing, so he understands what different sports actually demand.

Both are registered with AHPRA and are bookable online for an initial physiotherapy consult in Redfern. You can read their full profiles on our team page.

Treatments Available in Redfern, NSW

Dealing with joint pain, a sports injury, or recovering after surgery? Tap a condition below to see how we treat it, or call (02) 7252 4590. Treatment plans are built around your needs, goals and lifestyle, so get in touch for detail on yours.

Back, Neck Pain

Back and neck pain, often caused by stress or poor posture, can disrupt daily activities and spread discomfort to the shoulders or head. Treatment focuses on relieving the pain, restoring movement and addressing the root cause, so the relief lasts.

Chest Pain

Chest pain related to musculoskeletal issues can come from injuries, poor posture or overuse. Our treatment focuses on finding the source of the discomfort, reducing pain and improving movement, so you can breathe and move more freely. Chest pain has other causes too, so see your GP or call 000 if it is sudden, severe, or comes with breathlessness.

Growing Pains

Growing pains affect children and teenagers, causing discomfort in the legs or joints while they develop. We offer gentle, evidence-based therapy and advice to reduce the pain, support healthy growth and keep young ones active.

Headaches, Migraines

Headaches and migraines can come from tension, posture problems or the neck. We treat those underlying causes with hands-on work and exercise, which for many people reduces how often the headaches arrive and how hard they hit.

Joint Strains

Joint strains from an injury or a repeated movement limit what you can do and hurt while you do it. We work on reducing the pain, restoring the joint’s function and strengthening what surrounds it, so the recovery holds.

Muscle Strains

Muscle strains come from overuse, poor posture or a sudden movement. Treatment focuses on settling the pain, rebuilding strength and restoring flexibility, so you return to your normal activities quickly and safely.

Overuse Injuries

Overuse injuries build up from repeated load and are common in anyone training regularly. Sean Machoro’s background in endurance running means load management is where he starts, so you get a plan for the injury and for the training that caused it.

Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis causes joint pain and stiffness that gets in the way of everyday movement. Treatment aims to settle the inflammation, improve how the joint works and strengthen the muscles around it, so you move with more comfort.

Pelvic Floor Problems

Pelvic floor problems affect bladder control, posture and core strength. We provide discreet, evidence-based treatment designed to restore function, reduce discomfort and improve how you feel day to day.

Posture Issues

Poor posture leads to pain, muscle strain and less movement than you should have. We work on alignment, core strength and how you actually move through a day, rather than telling you to sit up straight.

Sports Injuries

Sports injuries sideline even the most active people. Victor Luong works on reducing the pain, getting the tissue healing, and building the strength work that returns you to your sport with the capacity to stay in it.

What to Expect During Your First Visit

We do not just treat the symptom. We look for what is causing the discomfort, then build a plan that works for your body, your lifestyle and your goals.

Understanding your story. Your health history, your daily routine, and what has been holding you back.

Finding the cause. A hands-on assessment that identifies what is really going on, not only where it hurts.

A tailored care plan. You leave with a clear, practical plan designed for you, aimed at recovering faster and staying pain-free.

Clear communication. Ask your questions. Everything gets explained in plain terms, so you know what happens next.

The clinic is a short walk from Redfern Station and easy to reach from Waterloo, Darlington and Chippendale, at home or on the way to work. Wear clothing you can move in.

Frequently Asked Questions Physio Redfern

How to choose a physio in Redfern, NSW?

Look for a clinic with experienced practitioners, evidence-based treatment and a personalised approach. Whether you are recovering from a sports injury, managing chronic pain or improving mobility, choose a physiotherapist who takes the time to understand your goals. Reading reviews and asking for recommendations helps.

What services does your Redfern Physiotherapy offer?

Sports physiotherapy, injury prevention and rehabilitation, massage therapy and sports massage, clinical Pilates, exercise-based recovery plans, and treatment for knee, shoulder, hip, ankle and other joint injuries.

Sessions are one on one, telehealth consultations are available, and every plan is tailored to your own recovery goals.

What makes your physio clinic stand out from other Redfern physiotherapists?

Every treatment plan is built around your goals rather than a template, and our physiotherapists combine hands-on treatment with evidence-based rehabilitation. Massage therapy and clinical Pilates are available alongside your physiotherapy, and podiatry runs out of the same clinic.

Does Physiotherapy in Redfern, NSW offer services for runners?

Yes. Whether you are training around Prince Alfred Park, preparing for an event or running your local streets, we help runners recover from injury, improve performance and reduce the risk of the next problem.

That includes ankle sprains, knee and shoulder injuries, muscle strains, overuse injuries, groin and hip pain and piriformis syndrome, plus the training changes that keep them from returning.

What happens during the first physiotherapy session?

Your first session is about understanding what is going on. We talk through your symptoms, medical history and goals, then do a thorough physical assessment of your posture, movement and range of motion. From there your physiotherapist builds a clear, realistic treatment plan, and you leave understanding what is happening and what to expect.

What are some common Physiotherapy techniques?

Depending on your condition, we may use manual therapy, a tailored exercise program, clinical Pilates, remedial and sports massage, dry needling, and education around movement and injury prevention. Each is chosen to match your goals and symptoms.

What are the 3 types of Physiotherapy?

There are many specialised areas, but three of the most common are musculoskeletal physiotherapy, for injuries involving joints, muscles, bones and ligaments; sports physiotherapy, focused on athletic injuries, recovery and performance; and paediatric physiotherapy, which helps children with physical or developmental challenges build strength, coordination and mobility.

Where is your Redfern physiotherapy clinic located?
