Chalerm Tuantab
Chalerm Tuantab is much more than just a foot guy—he’s our founder, a winner of multiple podiatry accolades, and the President of a non-profit!
As well as overseeing our advanced care for lower limb conditions, he’s won the Podiatry Service Provider of Australasia award and Young Victorian of the Year honors.
Beyond the office, Chalerm works with elite National Premier League clubs to make sure their athletes’ feet are in top condition. In his spare time, he enjoys playing sports himself, spending time on his boat, and studying law.
David Wassef
David is a graduate from the University of Western Sydney, where he completed a Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine (Honours). Throughout his academic journey, David demonstrated a strong commitment to learning, clinical excellence, and patient-centered care.
A proud Sydney native, David was born and raised in the city’s western suburbs. Growing up in a medical family, he developed a fascination with the human body and how movement affects function and overall wellbeing. This early curiosity naturally evolved into a passion for podiatry, particularly in the field of biomechanics. His interest in the way people move, walk, and function has shaped the way he approaches patient care, always striving to find the root cause of an issue rather than simply treating the symptoms.
What sets David apart is his belief that no two people are the same, and neither should any two treatments be either! He takes great pride in understanding how each unique body functions and tailoring interventions accordingly. His approach to podiatry is holistic and individualized, combining clinical reasoning, empathy, and a high level of biomechanical knowledge. Whether it’s helping an athlete improve performance, or guiding someone through rehabilitation after an injury, David prides himself on bringing a customised rehabilitation plan to every patient to not only get them back to feeling normal, but preventing further injury!

Frequently Asked Questions Podiatrist Redfern
How To Choose a Podiatrist In Redfern?
When selecting a podiatrist, it’s important to consider their qualifications, experience, and the range of services they provide. The location of the clinic is also key—choosing one nearby can make it easier to attend appointments. Be sure to check patient reviews to get a sense of others’ experiences.
It’s also useful to inquire about the podiatrist’s availability, consultation fees, and the types of equipment or technology they use. If possible, visit the clinic in person to get a feel for the environment and to see if the staff are friendly and approachable. Feeling at ease and confident in their care is essential for addressing any foot and ankle concerns.
Should I See An “Orthotics Plus Podiatrist” Or an Orthotist?
While both orthotists and podiatrists specialize in foot and ankle care, their roles differ. Podiatrists are medical professionals who diagnose and treat conditions of the feet and ankles. Orthotists, on the other hand, design and create custom orthotics or braces to help correct and support foot and ankle issues. Depending on your needs, you may benefit from seeing both a podiatrist and an orthotist for a more comprehensive treatment plan.
What Does A Podiatrist Do For Your Feet?
A podiatrist in the Redfern area focuses on diagnosing and treating a wide range of foot and ankle problems. Our general podiatry services include a thorough examination of your feet and legs to identify issues like pain, injuries, or abnormalities. Based on the assessment, we develop a personalized treatment plan that may involve medications, lifestyle changes, exercises, orthotics, or surgery. We also offer preventative care and practical advice to help you keep your feet strong and healthy.
Can I Use NDIS Funding For Podiatry Services?
Yes, you can use NDIS funding for Redfern podiatry care services, if the services are deemed necessary to help you achieve your goals and improve your quality of life. You’ll need to work with your NDIS plan manager to determine if your chosen Sydney podiatry clinic is covered under your NDIS plan.
What’s The Difference Between Podiatry And Physio?
Podiatry and physiotherapy at Align Health Collective in Redfern both focus on treating conditions affecting the lower limbs. Podiatrists specialise in diagnosing and treating conditions of the feet and ankles, while physiotherapists treat a wider range of conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system, including the ankle and legs, hips, and lower back. Depending on the nature of your problem, you may need to see both a podiatrist and a physiotherapist for a comprehensive treatment option.
How Much Does Podiatry In Redfern Cost?
The cost of professional podiatry care in Redfern varies depending on the clinic, the services offered, and the type and extent of treatment required. It’s best to contact the clinic directly to get an accurate cost estimate for your specific needs.
Are Podiatry Costs Covered By Medicare?
No, Medicare generally doesn’t cover podiatry costs. Medicare Part B covers some medically necessary preventive professional services, including some foot care, such as debridement of toes. However, routine foot care, like trimming nails or corns, is not covered by Medicare.
What Conditions Can Podiatrists Treat?
Podiatrists in Redfern can treat various foot and lower limb conditions, like heel pain, sports injuries, diabetic foot care, nail disorders, shin splints, callus, leg pain, nail surgery, ingrown toenail, foot and ankle pain, and postural problems.
What Is Shockwave Therapy, And How Is It Used In Podiatry?
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy shock waves to kickstart healing and ease pain in the foot and ankle. It’s used in podiatry to treat conditions like plantar fasciitis and other chronic pain conditions.
