Frequently Asked Questions Podiatrist South Brisbane
How To Choose a Podiatrist In South Brisbane?
To choose the right podiatrist in South Brisbane, consider factors like the qualifications, experience, and expertise of the podiatrist, services offered by the clinic, the location, and patient reviews. You can also do research on the podiatrist’s availability, the cost of consultation and treatments, and the equipment and technology used. Consider visiting the clinic in person to get a feel for the environment and the staff to make sure you feel comfortable and confident in the clinic’s ability to treat your foot and ankle problems.
Should I See An “Orthotics Plus Podiatrist” Or an Orthotist?
Orthotists and podiatrists both specialise in foot and ankle care. That being said, Melbourne podiatrists diagnose and treat foot and ankle conditions, while orthotists specialise in creating custom orthotics or braces to support and correct foot and ankle problems. Depending on the nature of your foot and ankle problem, you may need to see both a podiatric and an orthotist for comprehensive treatment.
What Does A Podiatrist Do For Your Feet?
Quality foot care helps you maintain the health and function of your feet and lower limbs. Your feet are subjected to a lot of stress and pressure throughout your life, and problems with your feet can cause chronic pain, and discomfort, and limit your mobility. Great podiatry foot care can help identify and treat foot problems early, prevent further complications, and improve your overall quality of life.
Can I Use NDIS Funding For Podiatry Services?
Yes, you can use NDIS funding for South Brisbane podiatry care services, if the services are deemed necessary to help you achieve your goals and improve your quality of life. You’ll need to work with your NDIS plan manager to determine if your chosen Melbourne podiatry clinic is covered under your NDIS plan.
What’s The Difference Between Podiatry And Physio?
Podiatry and physiotherapy at Align Health Collective in South Brisbane both focus on treating conditions affecting the lower limbs. Podiatrists specialise in diagnosing and treating conditions of the feet and ankles, while physiotherapists treat a wider range of conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system, including the ankle and legs, hips, and lower back. Depending on the nature of your problem, you may need to see both a podiatrist Melbourne and a physiotherapist for a comprehensive treatment option.
How Much Does Podiatry In South Brisbane Cost?
The cost of professional podiatry care in South Brisbane varies depending on the clinic, the services offered, and the type and extent of treatment required. It’s best to contact the clinic directly to get an accurate cost estimate for your specific needs.
Are Podiatry Costs Covered By Medicare?
No, Medicare generally doesn’t cover podiatry costs. Medicare Part B covers some medically necessary preventive professional services, including some foot care, such as debridement of toes. However, routine foot care, like trimming nails or corns, is not covered by Medicare.
What Conditions Can Podiatrists Treat?
Podiatrists in South Brisbane can treat various foot and lower limb conditions, like heel pain, sports injuries, diabetic foot care, nail disorders, shin splints, callus, leg pain, nail surgery, ingrown toenail, foot and ankle pain, and postural problems.
What Is Shockwave Therapy, And How Is It Used In Podiatry?
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy shock waves to kickstart healing and ease pain in the foot and ankle. It’s used in podiatry to treat conditions like plantar fasciitis and other chronic pain conditions.
